個展『COLLECTIVE SELF』から生まれた小さなワークショップを開催しました。
この体験に込めた想いについて、もう少し深掘りして説明したいと思います。
展示をご覧いただいた最後に、来場者自身がひとつの断片を選び、日付を刻み、3ヶ月後の自分へ手紙を書く。一見、とてもシンプルな体験です。
しかしその裏側には、私が個展全体で問い続けてきた「過去の断片が今に繋がり、今の瞬間が未来をつくる」という時間の循環への深い結びつきがあります。
この記事では、このワークショップがどのように他の展示作品（マンスリーカレンダーや写真作品）と響き合い、参加された皆さんの「今、ここ」を未来へと繋ぐ「時間を超える架け橋」となっていったのか。そのプロセスと、そこに込めた想いを詳しく紐解いていきます。
We held a special, hands-on workshop born from the solo exhibition "COLLECTIVE SELF." Here, I would like to dive a little deeper into the story and the thoughts behind this experience.
At the conclusion of the 'COLLECTIVE SELF' journey, visitors were invited to select a single fragment, engrave it with the date, and write a letter to their future self three months away. While it may appear to be a simple act of letter-writing, this experience is deeply rooted in the exhibition’s core philosophy: the belief that fragments of the past are woven into our present, and that the present moment, in turn, creates our future.
In this article, I will unveil how this workshop resonates with other works in the exhibition—such as the 'Monthly Calendar' and 'Photography' series—and how it serves as a 'bridge across time,' connecting your 'here and now' to the future. I hope to share the intricate process and the heartfelt thoughts behind this design.
展示の最後に生まれた体験
作品をただ眺めるだけでなく、自分の手を使って参加する。会場を巡って心が動いた瞬間のままに、自分自身の物語を編み直す場所を作りました。誰かの作品を見るという体験が、ここでの「書く」という行為を通して、自分自身の人生を見つめる時間へと変わっていきます。
Rather than just observing, visitors became participants. This was a place to re-weave one's own story while the heart was still moved by the art. The experience of viewing transformed into a time of self-reflection.
なぜ「未来への手紙」なのか
現代の忙しさの中では、大切な記憶さえもすぐに薄れていってしまいます。過去の断片（カケラ）を手がかりに、「今の自分」が感じたことを封じ込め、未来の自分へと届ける。これは、バラバラになりがちな時間を一本の線で繋ぎ直し、自分自身を見失わないための「時間を超える架け橋」なのです。
By sealing current feelings into a letter to the future, we reconnect our timeline. It serves as "A bridge across time" to keep in touch with who you truly are in this fast-paced world.
ここでは、未来の自分のために決意、目標など自由に書いてもらいます。
決意、目標であれば、今から90日間新しい物語が始まるのです。
"Please feel free to write down your resolutions, goals, or hopes for your future self. Writing them down marks the very first page of your new 90-day story starting today."
ワークショップのプロセス
Step1 断片を選ぶ
なぜその断片に惹かれたのか。その理由は言葉にできないかもしれません。しかし、その直感こそが、今の自分自身を映し出す小さな手がかりになります。
会場では、参加者の皆さんがしばらく素材を眺めながら、それぞれの感覚で一枚を選んでいました。迷いながら選ぶ時間そのものも、このワークショップの大切な一部でした。
この「選ぶ」という行為は、展示作品の『マンスリーカレンダー』と繋がっています。私が128日間、毎日欠片を拾い集めたように、あなたもまた直感で何かを掬い上げる。その瞬間に、あなただけの表現が始まります。
At the venue, participants took their time observing the materials and choosing one based on their intuition. The time spent hesitating and choosing was itself an essential part of the workshop.
Step2 時間を刻む
「日付は単なる数字ではなく、あなたがこの瞬間を生きていた証です。」
スタンプを押し、「I am here」というシールを貼る。この行為は、私のまなざしを記録した『写真作品』と共鳴しています。日付という印によって、流れる時間の中に「今の自分」を力強く繋ぎ止めます。
"The date is not just a number, but proof that you were living in this moment." By stamping and placing the "I am here" sticker, you anchor your current self, resonating with the "Photography" series.
Step3 未来へ届ける
書き終えた手紙は、90日後の未来へと大切に届けられます。手紙が届いたとき、そこにある断片や言葉に触れることで、再び「あの時の感覚」と出会うことができます。過去の断片が今に繋がり、今の瞬間が未来を作っていく。そんな時間の循環を肌で感じる体験です。
The letter will arrive in 90 days. It’s a cycle where past fragments connect to the present, and the present moment creates the future. You will reunite with your past sensations when you open it.
COLLECTIVE SELFとの接続
このワークショップは、個展「COLLECTIVE SELF」全体を貫くテーマの「まとめ」でもあります。断片を切り取ることは『マンスリーカレンダー』の積み重ねを、日付を刻むことは『写真作品』が捉えた一瞬の記憶を、それぞれ自分自身のこととして体験する試みです。
展示を「見る」という行為は、自分自身を見つめ直し、新たな時間として編み直す体験へと変わります。
そして90日後、一通の手紙とQRコードによって、その体験はもう一度展示の記憶へと繋がります。
会期中に参加者一人ひとりが残したカードは、Web上でひとつのアーカイブとして編まれていきます。
それは作品を保存するためではなく、それぞれが生きた「今」という時間を、ひとつの大きな記憶として残していくためです。COLLECTIVE SELFは、私一人の作品ではなく、この場所を訪れたすべての人の時間が重なり合うことで完成する作品なのです。
Ninety days later, a single letter and its accompanying QR code reconnect each participant with the memory of the exhibition.
The cards created by every participant throughout the exhibition are gradually woven together into a shared online archive.
This archive is not intended simply to preserve the artworks. Rather, it exists to preserve the unique moment of "now" that each person lived and experienced—bringing those moments together as one collective memory.
COLLECTIVE SELF is not completed by my work alone. It becomes whole through the overlapping moments, memories, and lived experiences of everyone who visited this place.
